Hülya Celik: I have learned to think more in possibilities than in difficulties

It has a very stimulating and motivating effect by joining forces and not focusing on weaknesses but on opportunities or strengths.

Short bio

My name is Hülya Celik, born in 1974. I teach biology and APP (anatomy, physiology, and pathology). Sometimes, I also perform the latter function as a self-employed person at vocational schools. Moreover, I am volunteering in my second profession: applied psychology. I develop projects in the field of art and culture for young and old. To this end, I founded the Wezenlijk Foundation in 2010 to convert personal problems into art and culture.

My Story of Empowerment

In recent years, I have been committed to Erasmus+ adult education projects in the field of migrant women, bicultural gifted people, and art therapy. The latter is an excellent way to reach certain target groups - internally. Participation in adult education has broadened my horizons in the field of education and development, as well as in the field of art and culture. I have seen how people from other projects are committed to developing the best method or trying to implement it as best as possible. I have seen how hard work is done behind the scenes to ensure that pupils or students achieve the best results. Methodology development in the field of art and culture has also given me enormous insights. It gave me enormous input to work with such intense drive and motivation.

I always knew that you can do a lot with little, and I have seen that creative thinking can make those possibilities endless.

I now sometimes write articles about personal development or novels in that area. I am currently working on that again. I am an ambivert, driven, enthusiastic person with a pragmatic approach. By nature, I am direct and positive. I have learned to think more in possibilities than in difficulties. It was not my nature to think about difficulties anyway; I always had a plan B. I have let go of that a bit and am now more likely to trust that things will work out. Especially if you do so with an open heart and soul. I also started visiting more countries, enriching my vision by seeing various cultures and experiencing traditions. I am cautious when it comes to new things, and through participation in exchange programs, job shadowing, or courses, I noticed that I have become increasingly looser in this regard. It has a very stimulating and motivating effect by joining forces and not focusing on weaknesses but on opportunities or strengths.

I think the goal is important, to know what the destination is, but you learn during the process.

What is on offer, but more importantly, what does it do for you? That is the learning process, and it contributes to personal development, which is useful for your participation in society. I think it is very important to bring like-minded people together to develop good homogeneous cooperation on a problem that needs to be tackled. The message should mainly focus on positive behaviour and developing skills. Currently, young people are very pampered, and parents do not leave them any room to fail, which reduces or even loses the development of independence and self-reflection. We can then target that target group and teach them the tools they do not receive (sufficiently) at school. In this way, they learn to compete less to achieve their goals and become depressed less quickly.
